Edition of 5
This image is from Paul Turounet’s first body of work in a 20 year study on the psychology of place between the United States of America and the United States of Mexico. In Tierra Brava Turounet explores life in Mexico along the border; this place that is not Mexico and not the United States, but rather something in-between: a brave land. The work from this series introduces us to the complex relationships of men, women, and families. We might begin to contemplate their day-to-day joys and struggles. Turounet would go on to complete two related studies on this subject, Bajo la Luna Verde and Estamos Buscando A. All US-MX works have various iterations; prints (such as this) as well as artist’s books, artifact-objects, and installations among them.
