This work is one of the most recognizable and striking images from Matt Eich’s Carry Me Ohio series. The second of four volumes of work in the larger oeuvre The Invisible Yoke, a study on the American condition. Like an enigma the subject, Elvis the Zebra, seems to look at us as though it were we who did not belong. The exotic animal lives in a private zoo, the Wilds, that has been built on the site of an abandoned strip-mine.
