The Rockabillies by Jennifer Greenburg
This limited-run monograph by Jennifer Greenburg was published by the Center for American Places in 2009. Named after a documentary photography series of the same name, Greenburg traveled from New York to California to capture a glimpse of the American Rockabilly subculture. Rather than play archetypes, the people Greenburg has photographed actually live this way. Rockabillies make every effort to live as though it were (still) midcentury; not only do they dress the part, they may also live in or refurbish period homes, drive and maintain antique cars, decorate their homes, and listen to period appropriate music.
