We are pleased to share news that Matt Eich was selected for inclusion in Photography Now 2020 at the Center for Photography at Woodstock (on view through Jan. 31, 2021). This year’s selected artists include William Camargo, Anastasia Davis, Matt Eich, Kristen Joy Emack, Adam J. Long, Natasha Moustache, Jerry Takigawa, Jade Thiraswas, Aaron Turner and Zhidong Zhang. Contributing Artists works’ address various contemporary concerns.
This edition of the annual exhibition was juried by Andy Adams. Adams is a pioneer in the field of online art exhibition. Presently the director of FlakPhoto Projects, Adams is a culture producer and digital director with a passion for visual media and creative communications. He has consulted arts organizations and cultural institutions that use the internet to engage, inspire, and educate the public, RISD Museum of Art, the Australian Centre for Photography, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art among them.
Adams selected work from Eich’s Say Hello to Everybody, OK? a long-form photographic essay that attempts to condense the chaos of America into a controlled context of a historical document and a statement of personal concern. With images dating from 2014 to the present day, this chapter of Matt Eich’s work examines the time leading up to and now during Donald Trump’s presidency and uses the photographic medium to counteract personal and national tendencies toward amnesia.
