Congratulations to Jennifer Greenburg, whose work is now in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The two works, Vicki and Roxy, are from the artist’s ongoing Constructed Portraits series. Jennifer Greenburg sculpts new representations of female-presenting bodies with photographic material, technology, and layers of handwork. Careful selection, intervention, and processing bring the work from source to final pigment print.
As with the previous series, Revising History, Greenburg begins with a vintage vernacular negative. Her method of intervention differs thereafter, but underpinnings of these projects are related. Greenburg’s work studies the way personal images operate in society.
These works will be included in LACMA’s upcoming contribution to Pacific Standard Time exhibition. Digital Witness: Revolutions in Design, Photography, and Film opens November 2024.
