Heroe by the Guatemalan visual artist Luis González Palma is one of the few works from his acclaimed early period remaining in the primary market. This work is depicted in the Poems of Sorrow book and was so popular in the Americas that it was assumed all copies were sold. This copy, #13/15, was among a larger return of work from González Palma’s Spanish dealer, espaivisor, to the primary US dealer cir. 2005-6. It has since exhibited in Chicago, Tucson, and San Diego.
Worthy of a museum collection, this contemporary art by González Palma embodies the visual and plastic characteristics the artist is celebrated for: use of the gaze, development of symbolism and character-types, and hybridity among them.
