Guillermo Srodek Hart photographs the countryside of Argentina. He uses a large format camera to document places that will inevitably succumb to time. The stores, repair shops, and workspaces that he records tell the story of a disappearing way of life.
Raúl considered himself a collector, and many of the tools and objects hanging on the walls in his tire repair shop were merely decorative. He was a single dad and his teenage daughter was hanging out in the shop with him. The interior was wallpapered with posters of half-naked girls mixed with his antiques, while outside the young boys from the town gathered with their motorcycles and four wheelers courting the young teenager. - Guillermo Srodek Hart
This above text by the artist was drawn from his monograph, Stories, published by Prestel in 2015. Srodek Hart’s photography has exhibited as part of the Venice Biennale as well as international galleries and museums. This is a striking image, and one of only a few vertical works made by the artist.
